Introducing Our Partnership with Imerman Angels

When we launched MCLA Voices, one message came through louder than any other: patients and caregivers wanted someone who had walked this road to walk beside them. Not a pamphlet. Not a hotline. A person.

We’re proud to share that the Mantle Cell Lymphoma Alliance has officially partnered with Imerman Angels, the leader in free, one-to-one cancer mentorship. Through this partnership, MCL patients, survivors, and caregivers can be matched — one to one — with a trained mentor who has been through it.

Imerman Angels calls itself “not a cancer organization, but a people organization.” For 20 years, they have provided free, personalized cancer support to fighters, survivors, previvors, and caregivers. Every match is made intentionally by a real person — never an algorithm — considering age, gender, cancer type, and lived experience, so no one has to face cancer alone.

What makes this partnership so meaningful for a rare-disease community like ours is Imerman’s global reach. To date, Imerman Angels has created more than 47,000 one-to-one matches across 123 countries — a network large and deep enough to find the right MCL mentor even when the diagnosis is rare and the questions are specific. For a disease like mantle cell lymphoma, that reach is everything.

Part of our work in this partnership is also to grow the bench of MCL mentors from within our own community. The more patients, survivors, and caregivers who step forward, the faster someone newly diagnosed can be matched with a person who truly understands MCL. We know not everyone is ready to mentor — the timing has to be right, and healing is not a straight line. But when you are ready, we would love to welcome you in.
