The Mantle Cell Lymphoma Alliance ("MCLA," "we," "us," or "our") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation incorporated in Delaware. Our mission is to support patients and families affected by Mantle Cell Lymphoma through education, research funding, and community resources.

We are committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who interacts with MCLA — including website visitors, donors, newsletter subscribers, patients, caregivers, volunteers, and board members. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, and what rights you have.

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Donation amounts and payment information (processed securely through Stripe and Givebutter; MCLA does not store full payment card numbers)
  • Patient or caregiver status, if voluntarily disclosed
  • Messages, inquiries, or feedback you submit to us
  • Volunteer and board member information

When you visit our website, we may automatically collect:

  • IP address and general location data
  • Browser type and operating system
  • Pages visited, referring URLs, and time spent on pages

2.3 Information from Third Parties

We may receive information about you from third-party platforms we use to operate MCLA, including Givebutter (CRM and donation management), Stripe (payment processing), and Google Workspace. We only use such information in accordance with this Policy and the agreements we have with those providers.

MCLA uses the information we collect to:

  • Process donations and send acknowledgment letters and tax receipts
  • Communicate news, research updates, and event information to subscribers
  • Respond to inquiries, support requests, and volunteer interest
  • Maintain donor, patient, and contact records in our CRM
  • Fulfill legal and regulatory obligations (including charitable registration requirements)
  • Improve our website and communications
  • Support grant-making, research funding activities, and organizational operations

We will not use your information for purposes incompatible with those listed above without your prior consent.

4. How We Share Your Information

MCLA does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

4.1 Service Providers

We work with trusted third-party vendors who help us operate MCLA. These vendors are contractually required to protect your information and use it only as directed by MCLA. Current service providers include:

  • Givebutter — donor CRM and donation processing platform
  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Google Workspace — email, document storage, and communication

4.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of MCLA, our supporters, or the public.

4.3 Organizational Affiliates

MCLA may in the future operate in partnership with affiliated international entities (such as MCLA UK or MCLA France). Any sharing of personal data with such entities will comply with applicable data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where relevant, and will be governed by a formal data-sharing agreement.

4.4 Consent

We may share your information for any other purpose with your explicit consent.

5. Donor Privacy

MCLA deeply values the trust our donors place in us. Unless you have given us permission to do otherwise:

  • We will not publish, sell, or share your name or giving history with outside organizations for their marketing or fundraising purposes.
  • Donors who wish to give anonymously may request that their name be withheld from any public recognition.
  • Donor records are retained to satisfy legal and audit requirements and to provide accurate gift histories.

Donation receipts and tax acknowledgment letters are sent as required by IRS regulations for gifts to a 501(c)(3) organization.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, comply with legal and regulatory obligations (including IRS record-keeping requirements), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it in a secure manner.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience and analyze site usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may limit some functionality of our website.

We do not use cookies or tracking technologies to build advertising profiles or sell data to advertisers.

MCLA implements reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. All financial transactions are processed through PCI-compliant payment processors (Stripe and Givebutter), and MCLA does not store full payment card data.

While we work to protect your information, no transmission over the Internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of information you transmit to us.

9. International Visitors and GDPR

MCLA is based in the United States and primarily operates under US law. If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with data protection laws, please be aware that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

To the extent MCLA's activities bring it within the scope of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or UK GDPR, we are committed to meeting those obligations. You may have rights including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data. To exercise these rights, please contact us using the information in Section 12.

10. Children's Privacy

MCLA's website and services are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

11. Your Choices

11.1 Opt Out of Communications

You may unsubscribe from MCLA email communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us directly. Note that we may still send transactional messages (e.g., donation receipts) as required.

11.2 Access and Correction

You may request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you by contacting us at the address below. We will respond within a reasonable time.

11.3 Deletion

You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to our legal and regulatory retention obligations.
